Krobo beads are beads made by the craftsmen and craftswomen of Krobo, a district in Ghana, Africa1. They are also known as powder glass beads and are used by natives for all sorts of rituals including birth, marriage, and death1. Krobo beads are made from fused glass fragments and are made in vertical molds fashioned out of a special, locally dug clay. They are generally made in West Africa, specifically Ghana, by the Ashanti and Krobo tribes.
